Embrace your wall.
This is very old advice, however, has still stood the test of time. Should you have any available wall space in your kitchen, then make sure you use it to store items that you would otherwise keep on your countertops. Such as your toaster, this can go on a shelf, or have a narrow wall shelf to house fruit bowls, coffee gear, and other such kitchen utensils.
